University of Cebu Law wins International Moot Court Competition in Florida

In Gulfport, Florida, the University of Cebu School of Law (UC Law) team won the International Rounds of the 26th Annual Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition (IEMCC).

In the world finals of the tournament, UC Law defeated champion teams from across the world to win the championship, as well as the Best Oralist Award.

Golda Marie Lim, winner of Best Oralist, Michaela Portarcos, researcher and team manager Kathleen Marie Omana, and head coach Atty. Assistant coach Atty. Lievj Raoni Alimangohan Atty. Kristine Joy Argallon, adviser Rose Liza Eisma-Osorio, as well as their mentors from the past.

After earning the Best Overall Memorial award and ranking third overall in the Southeast Asian regional stages of the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Tournament in January, the team went to the world finals of the annual competition.

From April 7 to 9, 2022, the IEMCC’s International Rounds were held at the Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida.

With over 80 teams competing for the coveted championship, the Stetson IEMCC is the most prominent environmental law moot court competition in the world.

In this year’s annual competition, the University of the Philippines College of Law (UP Law) team also finished as world finals. After winning the Southeast Asian regional competition, UP Law won the 22nd Stetson International Environmental Law Moot Court Competition in 2018.
