GENERAL LUNA – Singles may be loveless on Valentine’s Day, but single local government employees would not be cashless in General Luna.
General Luna Mayor Matt Florido announced on Facebook that municipal employees who are single or do not have a boyfriend or girlfriend will be paid double on February 14.
According to him, he has issued an executive order designating February 14 as a special day for single staff.
(It’s a month of Love again. Today, early February I will sign the Executive Order that sets the day of February 14, 2022 as a special day for local government workers in Bayang may Puso, General Luna, Quezon. Wherefore, they will receive double pay on valentine’s day)
He stated that the financing for this project would come from his own wallet.
(The payment for the double pay benefit of employees who will join the program will be taken from my own money, on my February 15, 2022 salary)
He also asked employees to be honest and stated that the mayor’s office will look into the accusations of singlehood.
He noted that if an LGU employee does not want to work on the 14th and instead uses the day to conduct some soul searching, he or she may be entitled to paid leave.
While providing this bonus, he hopes that more LGU employees have found love.
There were 43 single employees of the municipal government last year.
According to the local government unit, this move is an example of their “innovative governance.”
