Selling an envelope that looked like P1,000-bills, arrested


A woman selling envelopes that looked like P1,000-bills was arrested by Cavite authorities.

In a report by John Consulta on GMA News “24 Oras” on Wednesday, it was said that operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation and the Central Bank of the Philippines conducted the operation in General Mariano Alvarez, Cavite.

The undercover agent was found in possession of 150 envelopes, which were mistakenly folded P1,000 paper.

''Di po ako gumagawa nu'n. Nag-re-resell lang po," explanation of the suspect.

According to Armida Artango, bank officer II of the BSP, copying Philippine currency notes is prohibited under the BSP circular, unless there is a consent to the BSP.

Violators of such an ordinance face imprisonment of five to 10 years.
