Are you a Senior High School graduate with great academic and co-curricular achievements searching for a scholarship to help pay for your college education? Perhaps you’re the one they’re looking for! Now is the time to apply for a Security Bank scholarship!

The purpose of the Security Bank Foundation Scholars for Better Communities Scholarship Program is to provide educational support to deserving but financially disadvantaged students attending Security Bank Foundation partner schools. The Security Bank Foundation funds the scholarship, and partner schools assist in the screening and selection of applications, as well as monitoring the scholars’ performance.

What Are the Partner Schools of the Security Bank Foundation?

  • 8 PARTNER SCHOOLS:
    1. Ateneo De Manila University
    2. Chiang Kai Shek College
    3. De La Salle University – Manila
    4. Far Eastern University – Manila
    5. Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila
    6. Polytechnic University of the Philippines
    7. University of the Philippines – Diliman
    8. University of Santo Tomas

What are the requirements for eligibility?

  • Graduating Grade 12 student from a public or private school
  • Latest GWA of at least 90 percent or its equivalent
  • No parent currently employed/assigned in Security Bank
  • No other family member currently admitted to the scholarship within the second degree of consanguinity or affinity
  • No other existing scholarship except for school discounts

What are the courses that are eligible for the scholarship?

  • Scholarships will be made available to college students enrolled in courses directly related to bank operations, such as:
    1. Accountancy
    2. Accounting Information System/ Technology,
    3. Internal Auditing
    4. Marketing
    5. Financial Management
    6. Industrial Engineering
    7. Management Engineering
    8. Applied Mathematics
    9. Business Analytics/Statistics
    10. Data Science
    11. Computer Science/ Technology
    12. Information Systems/ Technology

The process of screening and selection

  • Only applications submitted online will be reviewed by the Scholarship Officer at Security Bank Foundation.
  • Security Bank Foundation endorses valid applications and forwards them to the scholarship coordinators of our partner schools/universities.
  • Security Bank Foundation may validate the information provided in the application via phone call and email.
  • Applicants who cleared the first round of screening will be invited to an online interview.
  • Accepted applicants will be notified through phone call and email. Applicants must provide current contact information in the online application form.
  • To confirm their entrance, newly admitted scholars will sign a scholarship contract.

Requirements for the application

  1. Online Application (bit.ly/ApplySBFIScholarshipNow)
  2. The most recent Grade 12 report card with GWA (preferably up to the first or second grading)
  3. Latest Income Tax Return of Parents or Guardians / Certificate of Indigency of Parents or Guardians
  4. Application for Admission to any of the eight Partner Schools
  5. Birth Certificate
  6. Portrait photograph or 2 x 2 photograph (white background)

How do you apply?

Application timeline

  • For the academic year 2022-2023:
    • Application deadline: May 16, 2022
    • Application deadline: July 15, 2022

Terms and conditions

  • The scholarship help begins in the first year of the tertiary study and continues until the course is completed.
  • Each school term, the scholar must be enrolled in at least the minimum number of units/load needed by the school.
  • Scholars must have at least an 86 percent general weighted average and an 80 percent per topic grade by the end of the semester/trimester.

Termination

  • A scholar’s scholarship may be terminated for any of the following reasons:
    • Failure to submit renewal requirements by the deadline
    • Failure to meet general weighted average e Failing, incomplete, or dropped grade in both academic and non-academic subjects
    • Transferring to another school
    • Shifting to a non-eligible course
    • Deferment of enrolment in a school year (except for poor health)

Renewal for the scholarship

  • Scholars must renew their scholarships at the end of each academic term (semester/trimester).
    • Online Renewal Form
    • Certificate of Enrolment/Registration Form for the next school term Report Card/Transcript of Records indicating general weighted average for the previous school term
    • Assessment of fees Updated grading system from school or university
    • Reconsideration Letter (only if the scholar fails to meet the per subject grade requirement)
