Griffith University is providing PhD students the Postgraduate Research Scholarship for the academic year 2022-2023 to do research on the origins, dynamics, value, and/or impact of authoritarian governments. This fellowship opportunity is available to PhD students at Griffith University’s School of Government and International Relations for projects in certain research fields. Candidates will be chosen based on their academic merit and research history, and will receive a yearly salary of $28,854 (indexed) for up to three years.

  • Applicants must be starting or enrolled in a Griffith University research program.

  • The accepted candidates will receive a yearly stipend of $28,854 (indexed) for up to three years of full-time study at Griffith University.

Process of the Application

  • How to Apply: Applicants must apply for admission through the university’s website. To apply for the award, students must submit an Expression of Interest to the project organizers for their various projects.
  • Supporting Documents: Students must submit the following documents to the university:
    • Statement of your suitability for the project/scholarship (i.e. a research proposal)
    • Proof that you completed a program with the required grades, as specified in the about you section.
    • A curriculum vitae (CV) (CV)
  • Admission Requirements: Applicants must have completed, or expect to complete, a bachelor’s degree with honors equivalent to first class honors or a master’s degree (AQF Level 9) incorporating a significant research component of a standard comparable to a bachelor’s honours degree, or be regarded by the admissions committee as having completed a bachelor’s degree with honors equivalent to first class honors.
  • Language Requirements: Students must submit the following English language competence exam scores:
  • IELTS-6.5
  • TOEFL – 575 TOEFL (IBT) 79
  • Pearson Test of English (Academic) – 50
  • ISLPR-3 or higher
