No Christmas, New Year for Duterte as ‘Odette’ victims come first

President Rodrigo Duterte promised that there will be no relaxation or celebrations for Christmas, but rather more work for the executive department, which has been overseeing the government’s assistance to people displaced by the recent typhoon.

"Hanggang — hanggang Pasko magtatrabaho ako. Hindi ako mag-New Year, talagang lalabas ako," Duterte said to evacuees in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, on Wednesday.

The distribution of the P10 billion budget, which he pooled from his contingency fund and scaled down government projects, is now being accelerated, he said, to be spent on continuing relief and rehabilitation efforts in devastated areas.

"Hintayin na lang ninyo, one or two days.

‌Duterte flew from Palawan to Cebu, another province hit hard by Typhoon “Odette,” to inspect and oversee the distribution of relief items to displaced residents.
