Filipino skincare specialist Olivia Quido-Co, who has officially joined the Miss Universe group, raves about Michelle Dee’s confidence and ambition.

Reigning Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee continues to make waves as she leaves a lasting impression on Olivia Quido-Co, the California-based Filipino skincare specialist and part-owner of the newly-launched Miss Universe Skincare and Spa. As the first Filipino to hold an official position within a global entity associated with the international pageant, Quido-Co shares her admiration for Michelle’s confidence and determination during a recent press conference in Pasig City on July 29.
“I think she’s very confident. I watched the pageant in the Philippines. I noticed that she’s very confident,” Quido-Co praised, recalling her observation during the pageant. “And you could also see that she really wanted to win. That was her aura, the aura of somebody who wanted to win. And then, I think, the way she walks and also the way she carries the gown, I love it!” exclaimed the skincare expert, whose product line has been the Miss Universe pageant’s official brand of choice since 2019.
Quido-Co’s role as the president and CEO of the new subsidiary brand under the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) marks a significant milestone for Filipinos in the international beauty pageant industry. The newly launched skincare spa and a beverage line in Thailand are part of the organization’s expanding ventures, with the grand launch set to take place in September in Turkiye at the “BeautyIstanbul 2023 Exhibition.”
“I’m a part-owner of this [new] company, so this will be the global brand from now on,” Quido-Co explained, as she revealed that the California-based Olivia Quido line will no longer sponsor the Miss Universe pageant. Instead, the Miss Universe Skincare brand will be distributed to Dee and the other contestants competing for the crown in the upcoming 72nd edition of Miss Universe, scheduled for November in El Salvador.
As Michelle Dee aims to secure the Philippines’ fifth Miss Universe victory in the final competition, she brings with her a legacy of pageant excellence. The daughter of 1979 Miss International Melanie Marquez and a cousin of 2017 Reina Hispanoamericana Teresita Ssen Marquez, Dee carries a queen’s pedigree, adding to her determination to reclaim the Philippines’ old glory in the prestigious pageant.
The Miss Universe pageant has witnessed the crowning of only four Filipino winners thus far: Gloria Diaz (1969), Margie Moran (1973), Pia Wurtzbach (2015), and Catriona Gray (2018). With Michelle Dee’s grace, charisma, and the support of Miss Universe Skincare and Spa, hopes soar high for a triumphant return of the coveted title to the Philippines.
As the nation rallies behind Michelle Dee, she stands poised to shine brightly on the Miss Universe stage and bring pride and joy to her fellow Filipinos. The journey towards the crown will be filled with anticipation and excitement, and Dee’s determination will undoubtedly make her a formidable contender in the global competition. The Philippines awaits with bated breath as their queen prepares to conquer the Miss Universe stage and leave an indelible mark on the world of pageantry.
Stay tuned as Michelle Dee embarks on her path to glory and we witness history unfold on the Miss Universe stage!
