Is Bongbong really dead? Comelec asked to junk COC of Marcos ‘impostor’

-

According to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), a petitioner seeking to have presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s certificate of candidacy (COC) revoked claims that he is not the son of the late dictator.

In a petition, Tiburcio Marcos claimed that the real Marcos Jr. had died and that the one who had filed his COC at the time was an alleged impostor.

“For Tiburcio, the principal petition raised was identity, something to the effect that BBM is not BBM, it’s not the real guy,” Jimenez said in a press briefing on Thursday.

Bongbong Marcos addressed the urban legend that the “real” him is no longer alive in his vlog in May.

According to urban legend, Marcos Jr. was stabbed and killed during a scuffle while studying abroad. The Marcos family allegedly sought Bongbong’s likeness to replace him.

"Pero sa totoo lang po talaga, ako ito, dahil kung tignan naman po ninyo, sa buong kasaysayan ng buhay ko, nasa publiko tayo... kaya wag po kayong mag-alala ako po ito," the former senator said.

Tiburcio Marcos is also a presidential candidate in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, his petition has been raffled to the Comelec second division, along with two other petitions opposing Marcos Jr’s candidacy.

Aside from this one, there are four other petitions against Marcos’ candidacy: two want his COC revoked, one wants him disqualified, and another wants him declared a nuisance candidate.
