International Hanns Eisler Scholarships in Germany for Bachelor

Leipzig Eisler-Haus e.V. For the academic year 2022-2023, V. is actively providing financial support for international students through its Hanns Eisler Scholarships. Composers with a university degree or comparable qualification are eligible for the international scholarship. The goal of the program is to provide a platform for the production and promotion of new music. Eisler-Haus Leipzig e.V. conceptualized and coordinated the event. V. in collaboration with the Leipzig City Cultural Office.

Great opportunity for German applicants. The Eisler-Haus Leipzig e.V. opened its doors on February 23, 2016. V. was founded at Leipzig’s Gewandhaus. They were registered in the city of Leipzig’s registry of associations on April 25, 2016, and the tax office granted them charity status. Hanns Eisler was a composer from Austria. He is most known for writing cinema music, composing the East German national song, and his long artistic collaboration with Bertolt Brecht. Why should you participate in this program? Hanns Eisler’s extremely varied musical output is almost joyful in its stylistic richness. They are a group of citizen volunteers who include composers, singers, music students, musicologists, journalists, and publicists, as well as institutional members of the International Society of Musicologists.

We were registered in the city of Leipzig’s registry of associations on April 25, 2016, and the tax office granted us charitable status. We are a community of volunteer citizens that includes composers, singers, music students, musicologists, journalists, and publicists, as well as members of the International Hanns Eisler Society in Berlin and the Gewandhaus in Leipzig as institutional members. Steffen Schleiermacher (picture left) and Werner Kopfmüller are the association’s chairmen. The managing director is Roland H. Dippel. The group sees its mission as giving Hanns Eisler’s person and work a larger presence in his hometown of Leipzig, in the sense of a vivid remembering.

Criteria of Eligibility

  • All nationalities are eligible to participate.
  • Courses or Subjects Eligible: The scholarship will be awarded in any of the university’s subjects.
  • Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered:
  • Candidates must have completed high school and have a solid academic record.
  • There are no age restrictions.
  • International applicants are required.

Benefits Offered

  • The scholarship is worth € 1,000 per month for the duration of the stay, which runs from mid-May to mid-October 2023.

Process of the Application

  • How to Apply: Applicants should send their applications to [email protected] in German or English.
  • A casual letter of application is added to the application paperwork.
  • A curriculum vitae that is both a) tabular and b) continuous text. 2500 characters maximum
  • a copy of your driver’s license or passport
  • If feasible, three separate scores with sound samples.
  • An approximate description of the composition project 3500 characters maximum (chamber music instrumentation for up to nine musicians)
  • Students must have a previous degree qualification to be admitted.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must show that they can communicate effectively in written and spoken English.
