If elected President, Robredo promises to return Marcos’ ill-gotten wealth

IF elected president, Vice President Leni Robredo has stated that the return of ill-gotten wealth amassed by the Marcos family during their regime would be her top priority.

“Tututukan yun ng pamahalaan hindi dahil kalaban ko sila pero tututukan kasi kailangan nating mabawi. Kailangang mabawi yung nakaw na yaman,” Robredo said during a Radio Interview Sunday.
“Sisigaruhin natin na mabawi natin yun kasi madaming tao ang naghihirap, nawalan ng hanapbuhay,” the Vice President added.

The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) was able to recover a total of P172 billion from the Marcos family in ill-gotten gains.

The PCGG is the government agency tasked with recovering ill-gotten gains amassed by former President Ferdinand Marcos, his immediate family, relatives, subordinates, and close associates, whether in the Philippines or elsewhere.

Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), is running for president in the Philippines next year.

The Marcos family’s camp has yet to respond to Robredo’s statements.

Robredo stated that there are records to prove as well as Supreme Court rulings on convictions related to the Marcoses’ ill-gotten wealth.

“Madami nang kaso na ipinanalo na ng pamahalaan laban sa kanila pero hindi pa nila naibabalik ang lahat ng ninakaw nila,” she said.

Robredo also refuted an unnamed candidate’s assertion that the Marcos family’s ill-gotten wealth is just a story.

“It’s sad that the people allow themselves to be fooled. Some think that if they voted for this candidate, he will save the country. But when you look at the records, this is the reason they are poor,” she said.
