Grindr reveals which countries have the most tops and bottoms

Grindr has finally answered the age-old question that countless bottoms all over the world have been asking: ‘Where in God’s name are all the tops?’ ’

As part of its annual Grindr Unwrapped report, the world’s most popular queer dating app revealed which countries have the most tops and bottoms (28 December).

Grindr, taking a page from Spotify Wrapped, has broken down the top (bottom and vers) trends among its raunchy user base and ranked each country or city with the highest percentage for each trend.

According to a report of the app’s 13 million users, the Philippines has the most tops in the world. When it comes to tops, Colombia, Israel, Argentina, and India come out on top.

However, for tops looking for a fine bottom, Vietnam has the highest proportion of users who list themselves as bottoms, followed by China, South Africa, Peru, and Poland.

Queer men in Venezuela, Costa Rica, Romania, Russia, and the Czech Republic are the most likely to identify as vers, demonstrating their diversity.

Grindr users proudly proclaim to the world that they have been ‘vaccinated.’

Hormones are most prevalent in the United States, which has the highest percentage of users looking for them right now, trailing only sufficiently thirsty Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Canada.

Meanwhile, Australian users are more likely to accept pictures that are not suitable for work, while India has the highest percentage of users in open relationships.

For those looking for a quick, well, 20-minute city break, Paris has the most Grindr users, followed by London, New York, So Paulo, and Los Angeles.

In an ominous sign of the times, the most popular tag used by users was “vaccinated,” followed by the usual suspects: “discreet,” “kissing,” “fwb [friend with benefits],” and “cuddling.” And they say romance is dead, don’t they?

All of the top Grindr profile songs are pretty, well, bottom-of-the-barrel. Users most frequently mentioned “Kiss Me More” by Doja Cat and Sza.

Queer people also enjoy Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain On Me,” Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” Adele’s “Easy On Me,” and Billie Eilish’s “Happier Than Ever.”

The informal report is based on anonymous, aggregated data from the company’s 13 million global users who include information on their profiles.

This means that the amusing list does not represent the entire queer community, nor does it represent the entire Grindr userbase.

“Even with some in-person activities resuming, virtual connection has remained a lifeline for people this year,” said Grindr’s director of marketing, Alex Black, in a press release.

“Grind Unwrapped is a playful way to help our users get to know each other better, it serves as an ice-breaker for conversations on the app and provides some interesting insights into trends from the past year.”
