Criteria of Eligibility

  • All nationalities are eligible to participate.
  • Courses or subjects that are eligible:
    • Applicants can apply for a postgraduate degree in Computer Science.
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    • Applicants must meet one OR both of the following criteria to be considered for the scholarship:
  • Identify as a woman OR as a black African, Caribbean, or other Black ethnicity.
  • They must also be able to show that they would be unable to accept the admission offer without financial aid.
  • Be habitually resident in the UK and would be regarded as the UK for fee-paying purposes; and
  • Have already received a conditional/unconditional offer to pursue the MSc in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of Birmingham.

Benefits Offered

  • There are two Home scholarships worth £29,860 each available. The scholarship is applied to the following:
    • £10,620 in UK tuition fees
    • A £15,840 maintenance allowance (to be used for living expenses), paid in instalments over the term.
    • During the course, you will get up to £2,000 in funding to attend an international conference in the subject of Al and Machine Learning, as well as £1,500 towards the purchase of necessary equipment (suitable laptop etc.).
  • There is one international scholarship worth £47,680 available. The scholarship is applied to the following:
    • £26,640 in international tuition fees
    • A £15,840 maintenance allowance (to be used for living expenses), paid in instalments over the term.
    • During the course, you will get up to £2,000 in funding to attend an international conference in the subject of Al and Machine Learning, as well as £1,500 towards the purchase of necessary equipment (suitable laptop etc.). £1700 to help with relocation costs

Process of the Application

  • How to Apply:
    • Interested students can apply for their preferred course using UCAS or the university’s online application portal. Students who have received an offer letter will receive an email with information on how to apply for the award.
  • Students must submit the following supporting documents to the university:
    • Transcripts from high school
    • Recommendation letter
    • Motivational letter
    • References
  • To be admitted to an MSc program at Birmingham, applicants must already have, or expect to receive, a first or upper second class honours degree (2.i) or equivalent.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must achieve the following minimum scores on English language proficiency tests:
    • IELTS – 6.5
    • TOEFL – 88
    • PTE – 51
    • CAEL -169
    • 109 Duolingo
