The University of Queensland is giving exceptional Molecular Modelling of Sugar Chemistry Scholarships with the purpose of ensuring that all skilled and deserving students have access to higher education. Applications are now being accepted for the academic year 2022-2023.

This PhD dissertation is part of a new multidisciplinary research initiative aimed at developing novel methods for manufacturing rare sugar compounds. The student will use molecular modeling to characterize a variety of reaction types in order to understand how to adjust them for more environmentally friendly and efficient laboratory synthesis.

This scholarship will provide a $28,854 annual reward to students who wish to conduct postgraduate research at the University of Queensland. Criteria of Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries:
    • All nationalities
  • Eligible Courses or Subjects:
    • The university’s postgraduate research degree in science and mathematics
  • Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible:
    • A bachelor’s degree from an approved university with at least honors class IIA or equivalent; or
    • Postgraduate degree (at least one year full-time or equivalent) with an overall grade point average of 5 on the 7-point UQ scale, together with demonstrated research experience equivalent to honours class IIA, approved by the dean; or
    • Coursework master’s degree with an overall grade point average of 5.65 on the 7-point UQ scale, which includes relevant research experience, approved by the dean; or
    • A bachelor’s degree plus two years of relevant research experience, including publications, is required.

Benefits Offered

  • The university will provide an amount of Php 1,514,488.75 ($28,854) per annum (2022 rate), a Living stipend, and tuition fees.
