President Rodrigo Duterte admits to crying for the fate of a boy in Leyte as a result of Typhoon Agaton. Duterte personally visited the typhoon victims, many of whom were killed in the landslide.

Among those Duterte met was a hospitalized youngster who was alone since his parents and siblings were among the casualties of the said tragedy.

“I visited the hospital and I saw this child who was all alone. His dad, mom and siblings are all dead. It made me cry and wonder why it had to happen to you. It makes me want to cry. But that is just how life is,” said Duterte in Bisaya.

Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go stated Duterte gave Steven Lumanta, 12, a birthday cake and promised him a necklace as a gift. On Good Friday, Go accompanied Duterte to the Western Leyte Provincial Hospital in Baybay City.

He stated that Steven is healing from his injuries. Go further stated that he provided the boy with a rosary and a smartphone to aid with his studies.

On Saturday (April 17), Duterte also paid a visit to the Pontevedra Elementary School Evacuation Center at Poblacion Tacas, Pontevedra, Capiz.
