Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera, popularly known as the Kapuso Royal Couple, are set to reunite on the big screen after over a decade. This exciting news has sparked anticipation among their fans, as they eagerly await the release of their upcoming film titled “Rewind.”
The project, a collaboration between Star Cinema, APT Entertainment, and Dingdong’s production company Agosto Dos Media, has already started shooting. The Kapuso Primetime King expressed his excitement about the comeback and reunion project with his wife, which will be directed by renowned filmmaker Mae Cruz-Alviar.
In a recent episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” Dingdong shared a message about their reunion in the film. He conveyed his enthusiasm, stating, “Hi, Tito Boy. Marian and I are very excited about this project. I have missed working with my wife on the big screen because it has been over a decade since our last collaboration.”
Dingdong also acknowledged the unique process of filmmaking, adding, “The creation of a movie is truly different, which is why I am thrilled and excited about what Enrico Santos and Joel Mercado, under the direction of Mae Cruz, can achieve with this project.”
Although the release date of “Rewind” has not been confirmed, the award-winning Kapuso actor and TV host revealed that it is expected to be released this year. Whether the film will be part of the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival is yet to be announced.
Dingdong expressed his hopes for the revival of the moviegoing experience, despite the growing prominence of streaming platforms. He shared, “We pray that the audience will return to the big screen, despite the emergence of streaming platforms around.”
The actor took to Instagram to officially announce the film, sharing a series of photos from the project’s announcement. In his caption, Dingdong wrote, “An exciting project is in the making, and this time, I have the pleasure of working alongside my amazing wife! After more than a decade, the wait is finally over as we announce our upcoming film ‘REWIND,’ directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar. This masterpiece, created by Enrico Santos and Joel Mercado, holds a special place in our hearts, and we can’t wait to share it with all of you.”
Expressing gratitude to Star Cinema and APT Entertainment for their partnership, Dingdong assured his followers that this long-awaited collaboration would become a reality. He concluded his post by saying, “Stay tuned for an unforgettable cinematic experience coming soon to theaters!”
The last film Dingdong and Marian starred in together was “You to Me Are Everything,” released in 2010. While waiting for their highly anticipated reunion on the big screen, Dingdong continues to captivate audiences with his murder-mystery drama series “Royal Blood” on GMA Telebabad. The show features an ensemble cast, including Rabiya Mateo, Rhian Ramos, Mikael Daez, Megan Young, and Tirso Cruz III.
Meanwhile, Marian is also set to return to primetime television in a new series on GMA, where she will be joined by Gabby Concepcion. As both actors juggle their respective projects, fans eagerly anticipate the dynamic performances and on-screen chemistry that Dingdong and Marian will bring in their upcoming film “Rewind.”
