Deped to equip Minecraft for mobile game-based learning

-

The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that the Minecraft: Education Edition Mobile Pilot for game-based learning will be launched.

The Minecraft: Education Edition, commonly known as MinecraftEdu, is a learning platform based on the popular sandbox video game that helps promote problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity.

The DepEd has partnered with Microsoft Philippines to launch the program for public and private school teachers and students across the country on March 16, 2022.

According to DepEd, the launch aims to encourage the agency’s 23 million students and 900,000 teachers to use MinecraftEdu for game-based learning and “to improve classroom experiences.”

The event will also formally announce the nationwide availability of the new MinecraftEdu for Android to increase DepEd teachers and learners’ access to the application, provide basic gameplay training, and provide resources and materials to help participants get started using the platform.
