CHED: No age restrictions for college students attending F2F classes

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Prospero De Vera III, Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), clarified that there are no restrictions on the age of students who will be allowed to attend face-to-face classes at the tertiary level.

De Vera stated at a Laging Handa public briefing on Saturday, March 12, that all university and college students are permitted to attend in-person classes.

“Lahat ng freshman ngayon ay (All freshman are now) 18 years old and above na dahil sa (due to the) K to 12, ibig sabihin, lahat ng ating mga estudyante ay (this means that all of our students are) essentially adults.”

While there are no age restrictions, De Vera clarified that students who intend to attend in-person classes at their respective universities and colleges should be fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

“Lahat sila ay dapat kasama na sa general population na nabakunahan kaya walang age restriction sa ating mga estudyante na papasok,” De Vera said.

De Vera also clarified that, aside from students, only fully vaccinated faculty members should be permitted to hold face-to-face classes. Meanwhile, students who have not yet been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 can continue their studies through online classes and other Flexible Learning options.
