Britney Spears has revealed that she had a miscarriage early in her pregnancy.
Spears confirmed the loss in a joint Instagram post with her partner, Sam Asghari, on Saturday. In April, the pop artist announced that she was expecting a child with Asghari after gaining her freedom from a court conservatorship that had ruled over her life for more than a decade.

“It is with deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent,” the post read. “Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along however we were overly excited to share the good news.”
“Our love for each other is our strength,” the post said. “We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family.”
Spears, 40, has expressed her desire for a child with Asghari, 28, a personal trainer, but has also stated that her almost 14-year conservatorship, which ended last year, obliged her to continue on birth control.
In 2016, they met on the production of her “Slumber Party” video.
With ex-husband Kevin Federline, Spears has two sons.
