Briones: ‘The pilot face-to-face classes were highly successful’

The pilot implementation of face-to-face classes during the coronavirus pandemic was “highly successful,” Education Secretary Leonor Briones said in the filmed weekly “Talk to the People” with President Rodrigo Duterte, which aired late Monday night.

Briones stated that 287 schools took part in the pilot program from November 15 to December 22.

“First, I want to report that the pilot face-to-face [classes were] highly successful,” she said.

As per Briones, students, teachers, and parents, experienced a “high level of sense of safety” while attending face-to-face classes.

Furthermore, she stated that pupils and parents were “very satisfied” with the execution of health and safety protocols.

Briones also stated that there was a “high level of confidence” in expanding and continuing limited face-to-face classes.

Briones also suggested to Duterte a “progressive expansion” of limited face-to-face classes by February, with only vaccinated teaching and non-teaching personnel permitted to attend.
