According to a Facebook post by Glenn Maglacion Arguelles Morfe, the shoes were spotted being distributed for free to Makati City students. Each pair has a price of 24 SR (Saudi Riyal) or the equivalent of 325 pesos in the Philippines.
“AIR BINAY 2.0. Libreng pamigay sa lungsod ng Makati ang sapatos na ito, bakit napunta sa Saudi? Ibinebenta na rito.
Ito sana ang pambibigay doon sa mga bata na masipag mag-aral na walang kakayahang makabili ng sapatos,” based on the caption.
The Makati local government immediately issued an official statement and warning to any individuals who would sell such items for free in the long run. They denied that they had anything to do with it.
“A certain mall in Saudi Arabia is selling rubber shoes that resemble AB 3.0 – this is not in any way related to the city government of Makati and DepEd Makati,” based on the caption of their official statement.
“We warn individuals and groups that there are legal actions in the unauthorized use of Makati City seal, as we commit to serve the #ProudMakatizens with transparency. #SafeMakati.”
