CAGAYAN — The Cagayan provincial government has directed the Philippine National Police (PNP) Provincial Director here to investigate a drag racing incident that occurred on Sunday, Feb. 20, in Baggao, Cagayan, in which several youths were hurt.
Gov. Manuel Mamba, according to Rogie Sending, Provincial Information Officer, has ordered a comprehensive inquiry and the identification of the organizer of the drag race.
According to the Baggao PNP, one of the cars involved in the drag race struck three young bystanders in Brgy. Sunday, February 20th, San Jose, Baggao, Cagayan.
Rodel Vergara, 17, Jomar Cuevas, 17, and Jaykim Pagaduan, 20, were recognized as students and inhabitants of Brgy Asassi Baggao, Cagayan.
Renato Soriano, 42, of Zone 4 Brgy San Jose, Baggao, Cagayan, was apparently driving the Mitsubishi Lancer with license plate UNN 912.
The drag racing involved a Mitsubishi Lancer and a Toyota Corolla, according to the PNP Baggao.
After colliding with the Isuzu Elf with plate number CTZ 570, which was parked on the left shoulder of the road, the driver of the Mitsubishi Lancer allegedly lost control of the steering wheel and ran over the spectators.
The victims were sent to Baggao District Hospital and eventually discharged.
